Carroll Community College (Carroll) has announced that the current version of the GED test will expire at the end of 2013. The current version, known as the 2002 Series GED test, will be replaced with the new 2014 GED text next year on Jan. 2, 2014.

Carroll’s Adult Education program provides, among other services, GED preparation classes for adult students seeking to earn their high school diplomas.

Carroll wants to let students know that those who have taken the 2002 Series GED test, but have not passed all five parts, have until the end of 2013 to pass. Without a passing grade, they will need to start over again in 2014 with the new GED test in order to receive their high school diploma.

“The GED test opens doors to college and to better jobs,” said Carroll Director of Adult Education Becki Maurio. “As a result, adults receive the respect they deserve and the satisfaction of earning a high school diploma. We want to be sure that everyone is aware of this deadline. GED test-takers must act now to finish and pass before the current test expires.”

“Support is available right here in Carroll County,” said Maurio. “We can help adult learners to get prepared to take all the parts of the GED test they still need to pass. We want students to succeed and our role is to prepare them for the standardized GED test that is created and published by the GED Testing Service.”
