Montessori School of Westminster Visits the Carroll County Airport
On Friday, November 30, the Montessori School of Westminster's two Lower Elementary classes, 33 students and ten chaperones, enjoyed sunny weather as they visited the Carroll County Airport near Westminster.
The students are learning about weather and the work of air, so the airport provided the perfect combination of both for their studies. Two students' families have planes at the airport. They got to see a 7-seat jet and sit inside of it. They also saw a 4-seat plane and were able to move the wing flaps and rudder. After they examined the 4-seater, they had fun pushing it back into its T-hangar.
The students, who are in grades, one, two, and three, were excited to learn you can get a pilot's license and fly a plane alone when you are only 16 years old.
