2012 marks the 136th graduating class of St. John Catholic School. Faculty, staff, families and friends recently honored the Class of 2012 at the St. John Catholic Church Campus in Westminster. The school awarded graduation certificates to forty-seven Eighth Grade students at its annual awards ceremony, followed by a Mass of celebration.
While approximately half of the graduates will continue their education at various Carroll County public high schools in the fall, the other half will matriculate to Catholic prep schools in the region.
Four St. John School graduates were honored for high academic achievement and presented scholarships to area schools. William Greene was presented with the Michael J. Curley Award awarded by Archbishop Curley High School, Baltimore. Kathleen Kapfer received the Tower Scholarship awarded by Maryvale Preparatory School Brooklandville. Stephanie Larsen was presented the Thomas Aquinas Scholarship awarded by Mount DeSales Academy, Catonsville. Daniel Stewart received the St. John Baptist De La Salle Scholarship, a four year scholarship awarded by Calvert Hall College High School, Towson. In existence since 1866, Saint John Catholic School has educated Carroll County youth providing values-based education and academic excellence.
Located at 45 Monroe St. in Westminster on the St. John Catholic Campus, St. John Catholic School serves grades Pre-K through 8.
