Westminster Swim Team Stings Opponent
On Saturday morning June 23rd The Westminster Stingrays opened their 2012 season with an away meet against the Atholton Barracudas. There was palpable excitement on deck as the veteran Stingrays and many new members warmed up together for the dual meet.
Westminster got off to a strong start as Tristan Keck, 14, won the 100 meter IM with a time of 1:16.57 and Tim McNown,15, won his age group in the 100 meter IM with a time of 1:10.57. The Stingrays continued to dominate the meetas Victoria Kaufman, 10, won the 50 meter freestyle with a scorching time of 45.61 and Jillian Hotaling, 12, won the 50 meter backstroke with a time of 45.19. The Barracudas fought hard but were eventually reeled in
by the Westminster Swim Team , who won the meet with a score of 248.5 –225.5. It was a true team effort and everyone’s contributions counted towards the victory. The win marks the first for the Stingrays since 2010.
Several Stingray swimmers had qualifying times for the Straehle Invitational including Tim McNown, Abby Dvorak, Tristan Keck, Kaitlyn Eyler, and Timmy Cather. The members of the Mixed 15 & Over 200 meter freestyle relay team; Kaitlyn Eyler, Tim McNown, Brooke Welsh & Chandler Keck, also qualified with a time of 2:04.99.
