More than 900 Carroll County BGE Customers Still Without Power

As of just after midnight Thursday morning, almost 924 Baltimore Gas & Electric customers in Carroll County remained in the dark from storms that ripped through the state last Friday.
BGE reports that it continues to aggressively work to resore power as quickly and safely as possible.
The folks in Carroll County who still don't have power aren't alone though. According to BGE's outages website, there are still 27,703 customers without power in Baltimore County, 18,948 in Baltimore City, 7,524 in Anne Arundel County and more than 3,000 in both Howard and Prince George's Counties.
In a press release Wednesday, BGE said the company still expects the restoration effort to continue through the weekend, as the remaining repairs will restore service to smaller pockets of customers. These efforts are in addition to the constant focus on outages affecting public safety and critical facilities, including 911 centers, hospitals and pumping stations the release said.
Weather.com forecasts hot weather in the coming days, with temperatures lingering in the mid-90's through the weekend, possibly hitting 101 degrees Saturday.
Carroll County cooling centers (senior centers and libraries) will be open normal business hours.

I am very thankful for the non-stop work done by BGE's employees and sub-contractors in this very hot weather and for having friends who lent us a generator to keep our refrigerator running for the 4 days we were without electric, which also shut down our well / pump - and for the friends we have that allowed us to shower at their home and use it for a respite from our house that had reached 85 degrees inside.
There certainly were times when we asked "why us?" when we saw power restored for homes only a few hundred yards away but many in my neighborhood and myself are lucky considering the incredible damage seen in Baltimore & Washington DC.
No, we weren't prepared for an emergency of this magnitude but we'll try to be for another in the future.
Thanks again to the line workers and arborists who worked tirelessly to return us to normal as soon as they could.
