BGE Not Providing Individual Estimated Restoration Times

Officials from the utilities company said the service won't be provided because the damage from Sandy is expected to be widespread.

Because damage caused by Hurricane Sandy is expected to be widespread, Baltimore Gas & Electric officials said they will not provide individual estimated restoration times as it typically does with storms.

As Sandy continues its trek into central Maryland, the officials warn that the number of outages are expected to spike significantly.

The utilities company previously reported that several hundred thousand outages are anticipated as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

In a news release, BGE officials said there will likely be extensive damage to the company's electric distribution system if whole trees and large tree limbs fall on power lines and other equipment. Customers may experience multiple outages over the course of several days.

Rachael Lighty, a BGE spokeswoman, said crews have restored service to nearly 8,000 customers since Sunday night. As of an 1:11 p.m. update on the company's website, 10,097 customers are currently without power.

More than 4,100 utility workers are mobilized at BGE facilities and staged operation sites across the state to assist in restoration efforts, the release states.

I'm concerned about the accuracy of BGE's site information. How do we know if the number of people restored are new outages or if that number contains people who were previously restored, but lost power again?

What difference does it make? The more without, the longer it will take, and there ain't nothin you or I or anyone else can do to speed up the repairs so, sit back and make the best of it. Play board games with the kids bt the glow of whatever light you have. Play cards or Monopoly.
Bitching an moanin will not get your electric up any sooner. A $400 generator will!

Exactly. Lets all buy our own generators to provide our electricity.

However I do want to say thanks to all those who are out there now working, traveling across the country to help. The issues are NOT with those doing all this hard work. The issues lie elsewhere. Those working out in the field are truly deserving of thanks and gratitude.

Just remember that while it is reported that BGE has 2500 crews coming in from out of state to help they are also sharing those crews with PEPCO! Got this from a friend that works with PEPCO. He said that the calling of crews was on a first come basis. If PEPCO called them to their region before BGE then it left fewer in BGE's region.

Out of power then it came back on and 30 minutes later out again. 15 trucks sitting at old police station 3 stop lights away. BGE what's wrong with your dispatching system?

Good storm response but three big factors made this alot better, that had nothing to do with BGE.First beause of Irene last year alot of the weakest trees fell and what was still standing was more likely to survive a storm.Second, the month before Irene we had alot of rain leaving the soil soaked and weak.Third some of the trees had dropped some or most of their leaves giving a better chance of making it though the storm.

We have been without power for 3 days. All our power lines are buried. This is effecting several hundred families in our neighborhood but the majority never lost power. We were also without out power for 3+ days in June and with Irene. BGE was giving out times to expect power to be on, like yesterday by 10:30 or today when they said it would be on by 3. I have called and spoke to a person and was given a different story than a neighbor who also called. What is going on?

Now experts talk about http://www.coachfactoryonline2013sale.com/ Coach Factory Online the relevance of picking the right shoes because it can affect your overall health. However the only problem is that we choose fashion http://www.louisvuittoncanada2013.ca/ Louis Vuitton Canada over wellness which is never a good idea.
