Is it true that the Hoods Mill Facilitys last day for local residents will have access to dump trash or garden and tree waste was this past Saturday, May the 19th? If so, why wasn't there a advertized hearing given this decision?

Hi Bob. I just talked to Tom Rio from the Dept. of Public Works with Carroll County. He said that Hoods Mill is still open and operating. However, it has been proposed in the current budget to close that landfill facility. Rio said he believes the commissioners are leaning in that direction (to close it). But nothing is set in stone until the budget is adopted (scheduled for May 29). Rio said if the budget passes as is and Hoods Mill is closed, they will time it to coincide with the fiscal year which would mean it would close at the end of June. Hope that helps!
