Around the time most middle school aged kids are getting out of bed this Saturday morning, members of the Mini Cow Tri Club will be finishing their first triathlon of the season.

These youngsters will be swimming, biking and running in the Tri-To "Win-the-Fight" Frederick Kids Triathlon Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at Frederick High School.

Christy and Brian Lausch founded the Mini Cow Tri Club in Mount Airy four years ago. Christy said she started competing in duathlons which only include swimming and running but then progressed to triathlons. She has been competing in triathlons for 13 years.  The couple's children, Benjamin, 9, and Anna, 11, will race Saturday.

"At the Tri to "Win-The-Fight" Frederick Kids Triathlon, our 6- to 9-year-old triathletes will be swimming 100 meters, biking 3 miles and running .75 miles, while our 10- to 13-year-old triathletes will be swimming 150 meters, biking 4.5 miles and running 1.5 miles," said Brian Lausch, co-founder of the Mini Cow Tri Club.

Christy said that although the club is based in Mount Airy it welcomes kids from anywhere. Twelve-year-old Grace Obando travels from Virginia to participate.

Annual membership to the Mini Cow Tri Club is $50. All of the club membership benefits are listed at http://MiniCowTriClub.com/club-membership

Looking forward to seeing your Mini Cow Tri Club participate in Saturday's Triathlon. It will be exciting for the kids and parents as well.
Triathlon participation can be a lifetime sport that keeps kids happy and healthy as they learn good sportsmanship. Keep up the good work coaching the kids!
