County Searching for Company to Manage Sykesville Drug Treatment Facility

The program is housed at Springfield Hospital.

The Carroll County Board of Commissioners is looking for a drug addiction company to provide services at the Carroll County Long Term Treatment Facility at Springfield Hospital Center.

"The program will create a recovery-oriented system of care by bringing together individuals in recovery, community providers, and the recovery community for the purpose of maximizing the individual’s opportunity for success," Jolene Sullivan, director of the county’s department of citizen services, wrote in an e-mail to Patch.

The facility in Sykesville is currently managed by Spectrum Health Systems Inc, providing residential substance abuse treatment for up to forty-eight men and women, according to the agency's website

Treatment includes a daily schedule consisting of recovery groups, individual counseling, work therapy, recreational activities and continuing care planning.

The new management change will drastically change the way that the center operates, bringing treatment under one roof to cut down on the county's cost for the program, according to Sullivan.
