Dec. 28 & 29: National Chocolate Days

December 28 is "National Chocolate Candy Day" and December 28 and 29 are both recognized as "National Chocolate Days".

In American food circles, December is well-known to be “National Fruit Cake Month” and “National Egg Nog Month”.

And while we already celebrated “International Chocolate Day” in September, Americans developed additional days to commemorate the joy of eating chocolate with “National Chocolate Day” and “National Chocolate Candy Day” in the month of December.

The National Confectioners Association (NCA) annually recognizes “National Chocolate Days” on both December 28 and December 29.  Also, numerous food and holiday listing sites recognize December 28 as “National Chocolate Candy Day”.

According to the National Chocolate Candy Day website Americans consume approximately 2.8 billion pounds of chocolate annually.  This averages to be about 11 pounds of chocolate per person.

The website also points out that during the Second World War, the U.S government commissioned Milton Hershey to create a candy bar that could be added to the soldier’s rations.  The chocolate bar that was created is the still-famous: Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar.

Whether you choose to recognize one or all of the National Chocolate holidays, you now have a perfect excuse to eat up those holiday treats, or, to stop by one of the following Westminster locations to purchase some ASAP.
