Eldersburg Woman Killed in Crash on Liberty Road

Suzanne Mary Mercier, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene.

One woman was killed and another injured in a three-car accident on Liberty Road late Tuesday night, according to Maryland State Police.

At 10:23 p.m. Tuesday, troopers from the Maryland State Police Westminster Barrack responded to the intersection of Liberty Road and Sykesville Road for a report of a serious three-car collision.      

The investigation revealed that the driver of a black Ford Escape traveling westbound on Liberty Road failed to stop for a red light and continued into the intersection, according to a police press release.

Several witnesses told police that the traffic on Sykesville Road had a green light and was beginning to travel through the intersection.

A blue Toyota Highlander and a black Honda Pilot were traveling northbound side by side when they both struck the black Ford Escape on the driver side, according to police.

The driver of the black Ford Escape, identified as Suzanne Mary Mercier, 64, of Eldersburg, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Honda Pilot, Danielle Elizabeth Blair, 27, of Sykesville, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and is listed in stable condition. The driver of the Toyota Highlander, Ava Brown Roberts, 62, was released at the scene with no injuries.
