Five Companies Respond to Westminster Brush Fire

No structural damage resulted from a brush fire in Westminster Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 11:26 a.m. Tuesday, Westminster Fire Department dispatched a crew to a brush fire at North Center Street and High Acre Drive in Westminster.

According to Public Information Officer Kevin Dayhoff, the fire was brought under control at 1:26 p.m. He said five Carroll County fire companies responded, including Westminster.

Dayhoff said there were several acres involved but no dwellings were damaged. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

A brush fire warning is in effect today for Carroll County, and much of Maryland, due to a combination of dry conditions, gusty winds and warm temperatures. According to Weather Underground, a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.
