Football Festival, Baby & Child Expo, Cookout and More in Carroll County this Weekend

Where: Winters Mill High School560 Gorsuch Rd, Westminster, MD

When:  Friday, August 17, 2012, 8 p.m.

Why to go:  September Song Presents "The Wizard of Oz" at Winters Mill High School, Aug. 17, 18, 24, & 25 at 8 p.m. and Aug. 19, a matinée at 2:30 p.m. with sign-language for the hearing impaired. Tickets are on sale at the Carroll County Art Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster.

Where:  The Historic Town of Sykesville, Maryland 21784, Main Street, Sykesville 

When:  Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why to go:  The event includes: Demonstrations and live stage music, shopping, magic shows, face painting, carnival games, balloon artist and more.

Where:  Carroll County Agriculture Center706 Agricultural Center Dr, Westminster, MD

When:  Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, 2 p.m.

Why to go:  More than a dozen current and former Ravens as well as Baltimore Colts alumni will be signing autographs, taking pictures, participating in Q&A sessions and more. The event will be headlined by Ravens Linebacker Ray Lewis. There will be a beer garden and food vendors as well.

Where:  216 E Main St., Westminster, MD

When: Saturday, August 18, 2012, 10 a.m.

Why to go: Children from 3 to 6 years old will discover what Carroll County was like in the 1800s. Expect themed stories, songs and crafts or activities during the one-hour program. Call to register (limited openings): 410-848-6494

Where:  5243 Buckeystown Pike, Frederick, MD

When: Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, 3 p.m.

Why to go:  This event will feature two local bands and a beer garden for the 21 and over crowd. Guests should bring donations of gently used clothing to fund Goodwill’s job skills and development programs; personal hygiene items for Religious Coalition clients; and canned foods and non-bleach cleaning products for residents at the Hope Alive Shelter. The event will be held in the Westview Promenade Shopping Center in Frederick, located off of Route 85.

Where:  St. Paul’s United Church of Christ17 Bond St., Westminster, MD

When: Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, 5 p.m.

Why to go: Bring what you would like to grill and a potluck dish to share, as well as school supplies to donate.

Where: 11701 Clopper Rd, Gaithersburg, MD

When: Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, 7:30 p.m.

When:  Aug. 13 to Aug. 18, 2012, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Why to go:  Check out the rides, food, games and entertainment.

Where: 700 Smith Ave., Agriculture Center, Westminster, Maryland 17340

When: Saturday, Aug. 18, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why to go:  More than 60 vendors, free tomato treats supplied by master gardeners, baked goods, produce, crafts, entertainment and refreshments.
