Man Charged in Assault With Baseball Bat Released on Bail
The Finksburg man was arrested and charged on Jan. 14.
A man charged in the baseball bat assault of a man at a Sykesville convenience store was released from the Carroll County Detention Center after posting bond Sunday, according to court documents.
Daryl Lowan Webb, 21, of the 1800 block of Amanda Lane in Finksburg, was arrested and charged Saturday with armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, theft and reckless endangerment relating to an incident at a convenience store in Sykesville that occurred on Jan. 6, according to a Maryland State Police press release.
He is also charged with first-degree assault by the Sykesville Police Department in an earlier incident on Jan. 4 at the same location, according to police.
Webb posted $50,000 bond for the charges in the Jan. 6 incident and $25,000 bond for charges in the Jan. 4 incident, according to court documents. He was released from the Carroll County Detention Center on Jan. 15.
On Jan. 6, 2012 at about 6:45 a.m., police said Webb entered the Quick Stop Food Mart at 7400 Village Road in Sykesville, and threatened the store clerk verbally. He then used a baseball bat to strike the clerk several times before fleeing the store.
An "alert" citizen, according to police, tackled the suspect as he fled the store, but was unable to stop him. The citizen was able to write down the license plate number of the car the suspect was driving, which aided in the investigation.
Police said Webb stole an undetermined amount of Maryland Lottery scratch-off tickets. The store clerk was treated and released from Carroll Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries.

This is an obscenity. The hard working Middle Eastern clerk that was violently attacked by the SAME man with a baseball bat, TWICE in two days, was told by the police that he was safe, now that the suspect was in custody. How could anyone say this man is not a danger to society?? I guess the Detention Center got tired of him, AND CALLED IN A COMMISSIONER ON A HOLIDAY to set a bail, so they could get rid of him. Too bad for the store clerk. Too bad for Carroll County.
