New Health Laws In Effect as of Oct. 1

New health laws that took effect Oct. 1.

 

In her newsletter to constituents, Delegate Susan Krebs reminds Carroll County residents that as of Oct. 1, laws passed during the 2012 session of the Maryland General Assembly are in effect. 

Here's a rundown of some of the new health-related laws. 

Carbon Monoxide Detection and Warning Equipment in Public School Buildings: This law requires public schools to install carbon monoxide detectors within their buildings. You can read the law by clicking here on this link. Health Occupations - Dental Hygienists - Local Anesthesia: This law allows dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia under certain circumstances after they have completed required course work and examination. You can read the law by clicking here on this link. Kathleen A. Mathias Chemotherapy Parity Act of 2012: This law prohibits insurers, nonprofit health service plans, and health maintenance organizations from imposing limits or less favorable coverage for oral chemotherapy than what is provided for chemotherapy that is administered intravenously or by injection. You can read the law by clicking here on this link.
