Forecasters are lowering their expectations for the impact this afternoon's storm will have on Carroll County. Carroll County is no longer under a winter weather advisory and reports now suggest we may see less than an inch of snow.

According to a Baltimore Sun article, the storm has tracked slightly more east than expected.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for Carroll County from 2 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Thursday morning. The entire central Maryland region is under a hazardous weather outlook.

According to the NWS, Carroll County could see snow mixing with rain this afternoon and evening with accumulations of one to two inches across most areas and two to four inches across norther portions of the county.

Snow will accumulate mainly on grassy areas but some roads may become snow covered. According to an NWS report, a winter weather advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility.

The Maryland State Highway Administration is also monitoring the storm and advises commuters to plan for a longer trip during peak travel times.

According to a news release, the highway administration is not pre-treating the roads with salt brine because the storm is expected to start as rain and would wash it away.

With a forecasted 90 percent chance of precipitation, expect snow today with a high near 39 degrees. Total daytime snow accumulation of one to two inches is possible.

Snow is forecast to continue into the evening, tapering off by 10 p.m. with a low around 31 degrees.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 46 degrees. Friday is forecast to be sunny with a high near 50 degrees.
