Outdoor After-School Activities Cancelled Tuesday

Due to severe weather, outdoor CCPS-sponsored activities are cancelled.

With strong storms and possibly tornadoes on the horizon, the Carroll County Public School System has cancelled outdoor after school activities incuding practices and competitions for Tuesday, Sept. 18, according to spokeswoman Carey Gaddis.

Gaddis noted that only outdoor activities have been cancelled, indoor activities are still taking place as scheduled.

"As this point we are not cancelling indoor activities under the thunderstorm and tornado watch conditions," Gaddis told Patch. "However, the Superintendent is currently assessing the situation."

A tornado watch means that conditions are capable of producing the windstorm, according to the National Weather Service. A tornado warning, which means the storm is imminent, has not been issued as of 3 p.m. Tuesday.
