Petco, Aldi to Occupy Former Superfresh Building
The stores are expected to open in the fall.
Westminster will become home to another grocery store and another pet supply store this fall.
Mark Bomse, senior vice president at Greenberg Gibbons Commercial, confirmed that Petco and Aldi will inhabit the former Superfresh building at 400 Englar Road with an expected opening date sometime this fall.
There are vacancies in other Westminster shopping centers, what other stores/services do you think Westminster needs? Tell us in comments.
The Westminster Superfresh closed its doors in July 2011 when the chain closed 22 stores across the state and eliminated more than 1,400 jobs.
According to the Aldi website, there are more than 1,000 Aldi stores in 31 states, from Kansas to the east coast.
Petco's website reports that there are more than 1,150 stores nationwide, including more than 30 Unleashed by Petco locations and more than 22,000 associates across the country.

No i will not frequent either one. Bowman's is far more affordable for pet supplies than any of the mega-chains, and I prefer my food to not be manufactured in China as is the case with most of the food at Aldi.
(I wouldn't shop at Trader Joe's either - I've never understood the obsession. Maybe because I was born and raised on Wegmans.)

I agree with you on the mega-chains. I wouldn't be upset if neither of these new places is successful and Bowman's thrives. Everyone should support local!

How about a SAMS Club to compete with BJ'S. I would also like to see a Trader Joes or a Best Buy.

I know these guys do their market research, but I can't believe Westminster needs/can support another grocery store or pet store. A specialty grocery like Roots/Trader Joe's/MOM's seems like it could work. Best Buy definitely could work. Love to see a modern bowling alley.

We miss the Pennsylvania Dutch Market, the soft pretzels, meats, sandwiches, items for the home, etc.
Most people probably don't need another pet store even though I have 2 dogs!
Best buy would probably work also, but I thought I heard that company was in trouble.
