Photo: Suspect Wanted in Eldersburg Theft Scheme

Carroll County Sheriff's deputies are looking information about a woman who attempted to cash stolen checks in Eldersburg.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a Latino female in her 30’s with short, dark brown hair (see attached police photos) who officials said attempted to cash stolen checks against the bank account of an Eldersburg woman.

On June 7, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the theft of a purse and other valuables taken from a vehicle parked at the Goddard School, 6300 Goddard Park Drive in Eldersburg, according to a sheriff's department news release.

The wallet taken belonged to the Eldersburg woman, and contained several personal documents including personal checks, credit and ATM cards, police said.

At 4:16 p.m. June 7, the suspect attempted to cash one of the checks at the State Employees Credit Union (SECU) in Towson, but was denied, as the account was frozen, according to a police report.

At 12:51 p.m. the following afternoon, the suspect again attempted to cash one of the checks at the SECU in Salisbury, but was again denied, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who knows the identity or whereabouts of the suspect pictured, is asked to contact Det. Mark Gonder at 410-386-2499, or the toll free anonymous TIPS Hotline at 1-888-399-TIPP (8477).
