Sheriff deputies are searching for a man who they say assaulted a Taneytown homeowner. 

Just before midnight Sept. 13, police say Joseph Jerome Page Jr., 34, of Taneytown, forced his way into an acquaintance's home in the 500 block of Willow Avenue in Taneytown.

According to a sheriff's report, Page punched the homeowner in the face before threatening him with a handgun. The homeowner was able to push Page from the residence and police say Page fled the area.

Sheriff’s deputies attempted to locate Page, and an unknown black male, approximately five feet, 11 inches tall, who accompanied Page to the home, according to police. 

They left the scene in a 2005 Silver Infinite SUV, Maryland registration 6AJ8179. The vehicle is registered to Page’s estranged girlfriend, who reported it missing on Sept. 11, according to a police release. 

A criminal summons charging Page with unauthorized use of the vehicle, and a warrant for unrelated drug charges are currently on file with the Sheriff’s Office.  An arrest warrant including charges related to last night’s assault has also been obtained. 

Page is a black male approximately six feet tall, weighing 160 pounds with brown eyes and short black hair.

Police said Page is believed to be armed and dangerous.
