Police Search for Suspect in Sykesville Bank Robbery

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon on West Liberty Road in Sykesville.

Maryland State Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a bank in Sykesville Tuesday afternoon and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a press release.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17 around 1:10 p.m., Maryland State Police Troopers from the Westminster Barrack responded to the PNC Bank located in the 1600 block of West Liberty Road in Sykesville for reports of a robbery.

Police said a man entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. The employee gave the suspect an undisclosed sum of money. The suspect then ran away from the store, entering an older model, dark green vehicle with a tan top and heading east on Route 26, police said.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The suspect is described as a 6 foot tall white male with a stocky build, wearing a black mask, black gloves, a red plaid shirt covering a blue shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, said police.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Trooper First Class Corey Green of the Maryland State Police at 410-386-3000.
