The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is temporarily closing two of three lanes along southbound I-795 (Northwest Expressway) between Owings Mills Boulevard and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) this weekend for concrete pavement work.

Contractor crews will close the left lane of southbound I-795 beginning 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 and will close the middle lane at 10 p.m.  One or two lanes may be closed until approximately 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13.

Crews will be in the work zone at various times to pour and set sections of concrete pavement.  Even though crews may not be present, sections of concrete pavement will be closed until the concrete is cured and declared safe for travel.  Maryland State Police will patrol the I-795 work zone this weekend.

The work is part of SHA’s ongoing $3.8 million project to repair pavement along I-795 between I-695 and the CSX overpass in Owings Mills.  The project, which also includes guardrail replacement, drainage improvements and pavement repairs began spring 2012 and will be complete fall 2013, weather permitting.
