Starry Night Bakery and Coffeehouse has been wowing customers in Westminster with fantastic desserts for almost a decade.

Owner Shannon Clarke wants a bigger audience, however, and on Aug. 28, she'll get it.

Clarke and her unique cupcakes will get national attention as a Season 3 contestant on Cupcake Wars, a reality-based competition airing weekly on the Food Network.

The show invites four of the country’s top cupcake bakers to compete in three rounds of challenges until only one baker remains. The contestants face challenges that include creating and decorating a variety of cupcakes using an unusual combination of ingredients. 

The final two contestants are required to bake 1000 cupcakes in two hours. The winning team receives a $10,000 cash prize. 

The show’s Aug. 28 episode features Clarke and her sidekick and employee of four years Amber Thompson. 

Clarke and the Starry Night staff will be hosting a viewing party, open to the public, on Sunday, Aug. 28 at the Greene Turtle Restaurant, 830 Market Street in Westminster. 

Reservations will not be accepted, but Clarke will be accepting RSVPs on Starry Night’s Facebook page.

“This entire experience has been a blast! We can’t wait to share the experience with the community," Clarke said in a news release.  

After the show airs, guests will have the opportunity to sample a variety of the shop’s favorite cupcakes.
