Storm Update: Carroll County Roads, Outages, Forecast

How is Carroll County handing the snow storm?

Carroll County Roads

Bruce Lockard of the Carroll County Roads Department said that all 64 routes in the county have been salted and plowed.

"Right now we're just looking at wet snow and minor slush," Lockard told Patch.

Lockard said the roads crews are anticipating more snow.

"Our forecasts still say more snow this afternoon into the evening hours so we'll be out and about at least through rush hour," Lockard said. "Then we'll assess what we have."

According to Lockard there are about 74 pieces of equipment out on the roads, including contractual trucks.

Power Outages

BGE is reporting that Carroll County has fewer than five customers without power as of 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. In fact, BGE is reporting just over 700 customers are without power state-wide.

Weather Forecast

The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting the snow to continue through this afternoon and evening until around 11 p.m. Be prepared for patchy, freezing fog and wind gusts between 19 and 24 miles per hour. NWS is still predicting accumulations of three to seven inches in the Westminster area.

Tomorrow and Friday are expected to be cloudy with highs in the upper 30s. The weekend will start to warm up with temps expected to be in the upper 40s according to the NWS.
