Steven David Gary, 45, of the 700 block of Cloudyfold Drive in Pikesville, remains under guard at a hospital after Sept. 12 shooting in Catonsville.
Baltimore County police have identified the man shot in Catonsville on Sept. 12 as he tried to strike a police officer with his vehicle.
Steven David Gary, 45, whose last known address is on the 700 block of Couldyfold Dr. in Pikesville, remains under guard at University of Maryland hospital while being treated for a single gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.
According to police, at around 11:35 a.m., an officer stopped a white, late-model Toyota RAV 4 in an alley behind the 700 block of Frederick Road in Catonsville.
The officer fired his service weapon after Gary's vehicle lurched toward him. The shot struck Gary once in the upper body, according to police.
Gary drove away from the scene at a high rate of speed, and was located within minutes in the parking lot of the Catonsville High School athletic field off Hilltop Road, police said.
Gary has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, theft from $10,000 to $100,000, and reckless endangerment, according to police.
Bail has been set at $35,000, police said.
The officer involved in the shooting is identified as Officer Boone, a 13-year veteran currently assigned to Precinct 1/Wilkens patrol. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation of the shooting, according to police.
According to court records, Gary faces outstanding charges of second-degree assault, tresspassing, malicious destruction of property and burglary for incidents in Carroll County during July.

i thought that was unreasonably low bail too? btw what do you think about this: two cops in street clothes try to " pull you up" in an old car, would you stop ? ( I know this is a diffrent senario) after radioing for a marked car . then you stop and they say "youre lucky we didnt shoot you " and they trump up a bunch of bogus charges
yes this really happened.......... what intergrity ! so you see I know that thers a very good chance the cops not telling the truth here,,,,,,,,,,, dont tell me, 'because I know form personal experience ( check my spellling and my typing) .....but you dont have to check my facts,,,,,,,,, I lived it
