Tonight: Celebrating Junella Spencer's Life

Junella Spencer, an avid community volunteer, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 5.

 

Tonight there will be a celebration of Junella Spencer's life at the Greene Turtle in Westminster. The celebration will include a silent auction, live music, games and raffles with all the proceeds going to The Shepherd's Staff, where Junella was a long time volunteer.

According to the event Facebook page, ten percent of all sales throughout the day will go to The Shepherd's Staff while also helping with the funeral costs.

Starting at 6 p.m. there will be live acoustic music, a 50/50 drawing, a raffle for multiple sets of Ravens tickets, gift card drawings, and more.

Junella Diane Spencer, 59, of Westminster, died unexpectedly on November 5, at her home.

Born December 19, 1952 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Carl Lee and Anna Marie Rahnis Mathis.

She was a Program Specialist/Executive Assistant for Carroll County Human Services Program. She was a 1970 graduate of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in Essex. She loved to volunteer at Shepherd’s Staff and for dinners for the homeless at St. John Church where she was an active member. She taught Religious Education to second graders at St. John School and had been a treasurer for the Cub Scout Pack her sons had belonged to in earlier years.

Surviving are sons James E. and Scott M. Spencer of Westminster; siblings Lorraine Blanche, Carl Mathis, Jr., Johnny Mathis, Barbara Lang, Joseph Mathis, Anna Kowaleski, Donald Mathis, William Mathis, Michael Mathis and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers James and Robert Mathis.
