What Do You Want to See at the Superfresh Site?

This building that used to house Superfresh would make a great ... you fill in the blank!

Westminster has a lot of great businesses, but is there anything missing? A certain type of establishment or a new store?

This building at 400 Englar Road, the former location of Superfresh Grocery Store, has been vacant since July.

What do you think should move in? Tell us in the comments section below what you'd like to see here.

I would love to have a Traders Joe fill that spot. Imagine how crowded that place would be and how many jobs Westminster would gain.

Good ideas- organic/natural grocery store, sporting goods... don't think we need another "normal" grocery store though. How about a bowling alley?

How about a Best Buy or a nice Antique Mall?

A Wgmans with employees who DON'T chase their customers out onto the parking lot because they thought the customer was stealing. It's was bratty service like this at this location the reason Superfresh was shut down.

No, RJ, the reason for the closing <of all but 2 Superfresh's in Maryland> can actually be summed up by an old axiom: "the fish rots from the head first". Meaning bad top management begets a bad business

My wife and I were hoping for a Trader Joe's when we first heard Super Fresh was closing.

I'd love to see a Trader Joe's closer too. For everyone that wants one, try filling out the location request form. Maybe if we bug them enough ...

Thanks for this link, Cindy! I would love a Trader Joe's here in Westminster so I went right to the site and let them know. I hope everyone does this too!!

I would love to see a Wegmans, but I'm not sure that building is big enough. Never been to a Trader Joe's.

Definitly , we need a large health food store. Trader Joes or one like the Common Market in Frederick. A Ryans Buffett would be fantastic. There's one in Hanover. How about a Steak and Shake resturant. Please, not another Matress store.

I would love a Trader Joe's too! I also agree that we need something different - not another regular grocery store (I think all the major chains are represented already), not another mattress or furniture store, something different- Please.

Trader Joe's first choice; if not, possibly Whole Foods

We do need and deserve something "different"...I often find myself traveling outside the county to seek more of a selection and quality when shopping. I agree with everyone. While we would all LOVE a Wegman's, it would likely become a decade-long battle to win a Wegman's here (It took at least this long for Howard County to persuade its community to welcome one). The fear was that it would threaten business from all other surrounding retailers (which is indeed a possibility). Again, I would LOVE a Barnes & Noble (I've been saying this for years). However, Barnes & Noble may consider their small bookstore on McDaniel's campus as their presence here in Westminster. We lost Locust Books and the bookstore at the Mall, so those factors could justify need for a Barnes & Noble. Trader Joe's would be great too. In fact, Trader Joe's affordability and the accessibility of that SuperFresh lot would make that venue for a great fit.

I would love to see a Hooter's or a Gentlemen's club or even a casino! These kind of place's would provide good paying jobs for women and of course men too.

A Hooters now that's just what we need! Very classy.
It would be fun to watch pro-business Commissioner Frazier take on that one.

I'd like to see a trade school, supported by funding to put people back to work...the antique mall sounds pretty good too...

Don't we have an antique mall that can't keep all it's spaces filled? I like to see antiques on Main St.
I'm going back to the bowling alley idea. Check out Shady Grove 300 in Gaithersburg. Good family entertainment.
The trade school is a decent idea, but I don't think it's likely. It's going to be retail/entertainment. Dave & Buster's is a nice suggestion. They might not like being right next to BWW though.

I like the bowling alley idea or a Chuck E Cheese/Dave & Busters type place. A Best Buy or HH Gregg would also be nice. Not a fan of Trader Joe's at all.

Trader Joe's is the first thing I thought of too. I do agree that Wegman's would be great but the space just wouldn't accommodate it. Anyone know of actual plans for the space or proposals that have been floated yet?

I'd REALLY like to see an inexpensive second run movie theater. This probably won't happen though, as Regal in the Town Mall fights every one that's ever been proposed. They like being the only 'game' in town. Wish they'd at least upgrade their seating which hasn't been done since Regal came to the Town Mall way back in the day.

Some of us of a certain age would insist that Cranberry/Town Mall didn't even exist "back in the day." :-)

Sorry John, leases are already signed for Aldo and PetCo. Besides, I think the operators of the Amish Market are content in Hunt Valley, better demographics and more customer traffic there, especially from the business park at lunch time.
