Winter Storm Warning for Carroll County Cancelled

The National Weather Service has issued the following advisory.

A winter storm warning that was to be in effect until 3 a.m. Thursday for the Washington/DC region, including Howard and Carroll counties, has been cancelled, according to the National Weather Service.

In its place is a winter weather advisory until 9 p.m. Thursday.

The advisory says additional snow accumulations of one to two inches are possible through the evening, with temperatures in the low to mid-30s and wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour.

The advisory cautions motorists to be careful, as slushy and possibly snow covered roads, combined with near freezing temperatures, could cause icy roads.

BGE officials had announced they were mobilizing personnel to deal with potential power outages created by the winter storm, saying that this could have been the first “significant snowfall of the winter,” one that others have dubbed the “snowquester.”

As of 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, BGE was reporting 1,127 outages throughout its service area.

sorry but this storm was not what we expected and it really, so far, has been much ado about nothing

It was nice to have a day off, but I am a LITTLE disappointed that this was all there was.

My kids were bummed the weather wasn't better for sledding. We just got a lot more warm wind off the coast than anticipated so our snow turned to rain. So goes life. This weekend we have to spring forward and I have to say I'm looking forward to longer days and warmer temps.
