Hi Guys! My name is Comet and I’m a regal, two- to three-year-old, 100-pound German Rottweiler. I was rescued from a local shelter after my owners surrendered me. Can you believe that? I’m another casualty of young parents having a new baby and deciding they no longer had room for a big dog like me. I don’t understand their thinking, but I’m young, gorgeous, and ready for a fresh start.

I’m a multi-faceted kind of dog... One on hand, I’m sweet and loving; I love people and am excellent with my foster family’s kids. I let them lay up against me when we watch TV, and love to snuggle up with them and get as many belly rubs as possible. I follow them around everywhere and want to make sure they’re always safe. I’m also fun and playful, love to play with any type of ball or Kong toy, and can always be found carrying one around in my mouth. I can entertain myself, and like to toss my toys in the air and fetch them, or play with my soccer ball outside.  

On the other hand, I can be a little too protective and guarding of my toys. I like to sneak up and steal toys from my foster pup sister, and am still learning how to share. My foster mom (who’s awesome) has trained big dogs like me before, so we are in doggie boot camp right now. We’re working on my resource guarding issues around toys and learning how to trade. We’re also working on basic commands and leash walking. I walk very well on a leash, but can be reactive when I see another dog on the walk, so we are working on my socialization skills. I am not food-aggressive at all, but I am highly motivated by treats, so they are great tool to help me learn quickly.

I’m already crate-trained, almost fully potty-trained, and am great in the car and always up for a new adventure. I’m smart, learn quickly, and am responding well to training and my daily routine. I get vigorous walks twice a day and we also do a daily practice of commands. I’m a big, strong dog who is quite athletic, so I will need a strong, assertive leader that has some Rottweiler or big dog experience to manage me.

My foster mom describes me as a kind and gentle spirit in search of routine, consistency, and leadership. Mutts Matter thinks I would do best as an only dog, and definitely NO CATS. I don’t really like them.
