Pick-Your-Own Produce in and Around Carroll County

It's strawberry season at Baugher's in Westminster. Pick-your-own while they last.

Carroll County Businesses Recognized for Growth, Innovation

Four local businesses are being recognized by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.

Four Carroll County businesses are finalists for the Maryland Chamber of Commerce 2013 Business Breakthrough Awards.  In 2001, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, along with its local chamber and association partners, established a new program to recognize the excellence in innovation, growth and entrepreneurial spirit of Maryland’s small businesses, according to a news release. Local Gym Owner Asks Jillian Michaels to Attend One Year Anniversary Celebration

Celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels has been officially invited to Westminster to celebrate the one year anniversary of the opening of Dani's Gym.

Dani Knight, owner of Dani's Gym in Westminster, is crossing her fingers that celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels will consider her invite to come to Westminster.  "I've met her a few times, she's a great inspiration," Knight said. Knight said when The Biggest Loser, a TV show on which Michaels was a trainer, first aired she had clients tell her she was just like Michaels. Knight said she didn't watch the show because she didn't want people to think she was imitating Michaels. Then, in the ninth season, Knight said she watched the show one evening out of boredom. Knorr Brake Corporation Officially Opens New Facility

Knorr Brake Corporation was located on Baltimore Blvd in Westminster for 18 years before moving to its new facility near the airport in Westminster.

Knorr Brake Corporation showed off its new building on Arthur Peck Drive in Westminster on Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.  Knorr Brake Corporation is a manufacturer of braking, door, and HVAC systems for the mass transit rail industry. Knorr's new $28 million, 235,000-square-foot facility across from the Carroll County Regional Airport is an upgrade from its previous location on Baltimore Blvd. Knorr's previous building was purchased by Land Sea Air, a newly formed manufacturing company for $3.5 million.
