Righttime Medical Care Partners with Frederick County Schools

Righttime Medical Care is participating in an innovative two-part medical education project at Monocacy Middle School in Frederick as part of the Academic Business Connection (ABC) program launched by Frederick County Public Schools.

Stanford Coleman, M.D., Righttime’s Chief Networking Officer for Medical Affairs and Community Relations, visited two of sixth-grade teacher Andrea Maruskin’s science classes on January 30. Ms. Maruskin is introducing a program called Code Blue to teach her students about becoming specialty providers in several medical fields, including neurology, cardiology and infectious diseases, and requested Righttime’s assistance in bringing the program to fruition.

During his first classroom visit, Dr. Coleman discussed with the students a day in the life of a physician, and reviewed medical diagnoses, decision making and treatments. The students have virtual “patients” with several symptoms and have two weeks to prepare projects that highlight how they diagnosed their patients’ illnesses.

Dr. Coleman, a practicing physician with Righttime Medical Care, will return on February 13 to meet the same students for a Grand Rounds day, during which he will listen to and give feedback about group presentations reviewing their medical findings.

Righttime Medical Care, a Maryland-based urgent care company, and Ms. Maruskin were introduced through the Academic Business Connection that was launched to link school project requests with local businesses. The computer-based program, which some in the community have described as similar to Match.com, is sponsored by the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce and the Frederick County Business Roundtable for Education (FCBRE).

“As an integral part of the well-being of the communities we care for,” said Dr. Coleman, “Righttime is proud to support Frederick County Public Schools to introduce their students to new horizons. Monocacy Middle School’s students are engaged and enthusiastic, and it was a pleasure getting to know them and introducing them to the field of medicine. We are honored to be the first business participating in the ABC program at Monocacy and look forward to partnering with FCPS on future projects.”
