St. John students get “slimed”

This year, St. John Catholic School students had an added incentive to participate in the school’s recent 5K Walk and Fund Run.  Instead of the usual prizes and awards that fundraising events often generate, students who raised in excess of $500.00 were rewarded by having a gooey slime dripped over their heads at a special wrap-up assembly on Friday.  In front of a packed school gymnasium, students stepped on stage and invited their parents to join them for the “sliming.”

The 5K Walk and Fund Run is an annual event that combines fitness with fundraising.  Students were encouraged to walk, run or jog the approximate three mile course traversing the St. John Catholic Community campus.  Students obtained sponsors to raise funds for the school.  This year the SJS 5K Walk and Fund Run raised over $31,500.  Event proceeds will help provide scholarships and technology upgrades at the School.

St. John Catholic School is an accredited, faith-based, private Carroll County school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8.
