Deadline Friday to Nominate a Humanitarian for Local Award

The award honors an employee in the community services sector who has demonstrated creativity, innovation, and commitment to positively impacting the lives of county residents.

Look around at your co-workers and people you know who work at local nonprofits who selflessly give of their hearts every day and consider nominating them for the Sylvia Canon Humanitarian Award.

Nominations for the annual Sylvia Canon Humanitarian Award are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18.

The award honors an employee or retiree of an organization providing community services in Carroll County who has demonstrated creativity, innovation, and commitment to positively impacting the lives of county residents.

Sylvia Canon is a legend in the Carroll County nonprofit world, known for her dedication and commitment to serving those in need. She was the driving force behind the opening of Human Service Programs (HSP) 25 years ago.

The Community Services Council created the Sylvia Canon Humanitarian Award in 2001 to recognize individuals who have had a significant impact in the Carroll County nonprofit community.

In addition to recognition at the annual award breakfast in December, this year's winner will be honored with a $250 donation to the organization of his or her choice.
