Round Up: Family Fun Events in Carroll County This Weekend

Here are some fun things to do around town with the family this weekend.

 

Where/When:  Grounds, Saturday, June 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Rain or Shine).

Why to go:  Fine arts and crafts, meet and greet local artists.  Also includes art demonstrations, family activities, strolling musicians, festival food, and live entertainment throughout the day.

Where/When:  The Sykesville Freedom Fire Department, 6680 Sykesville Road (Rt. 32), Sykesville, MD 21784, Saturday, June 2, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  (Rain or Shine).

Why to go:  The festival has games, pony rides, entertainment, a silent auction, food, craft and antique vendors, and of course, strawberry shortcake.

Proceeds from past festivals have funded the construction of 'Celebration Hall', a building used by Messiah Nursery School, Sunday School, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Lions Club and other community organizations.

 Every year a portion of the proceeds goes to help those in need both locally (disasters, women’s shelters, Rose Felter Scholarship Fund, community members with medical needs) and nationally (Katrina victims, world hunger victims, relief for earthquake victims in Haiti).

Where/When:  Grounds, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster, Monday, May 28 til Saturday, June 4.  Open till 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Why to go:  Food, Drink, Games, Rides and Entertainment.

Entertainment Schedule:

  • Friday, June 3: Bootleg (classic rock/blues/country)
  • Saturday, June 4: Big Cam & the Lifters ( 50's rock & roll)

SPECIAL ONE NIGHT ONLY:  Friday, June 3rd, BINGO at 7 p.m. on with doors opening at 5:30 p.m.  Parking for the carnival and bingo is available in the church and school parking lots. 

Food Court by: Big Boy Foods, Vocelli Pizza, Convenience Catering and Stevo's Grill. Rides by Rosedale Attractions & Shows, Inc.

Why to go:  Full array of fun family activities including a Parade, Drafting by the lake and Pumping Contests.  Also includes a Flea Market with several vendors selling fire related memorabilia.  Food and drink available.
