St. Patrick’s Day Sock Hop, Benefit Craft Show, Easter Egg Hunt and More in Carroll County this Weekend

The Carroll Players present "Last of the Red Hot Lovers"

  • Where:  Westminster Riding Club Banquet Hall, 366 N Colonial Ave, Westminster
  • When:  Friday, Mar. 15, 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 16, 6:30 p.m.
  • Description:  Dinner and a show presented by Neil Simon.
  • Cost:  $45

  • Where:  Liberty High School, 5855 Bartholow Rd, Sykesville
  • When:  Friday, Mar. 15, 7 p.m.
  • Description:  A fast-paced stage adaptation of featuring updated dialogue and new arrangements of such classic Disney songs as "I'm Late," "The Un-birthday Song" and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah."
  • Cost:  $8

Community 5th grade dance

  • Where:  Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E Main St, Westminster
  • When:  Friday, Mar. 15, 7 p.m.
  • Description:  DJ music and food for purchase.  Proceeds benefit the WUMC Youth Group.
  • Cost:  Free

Spring Fever Coffee House

  • Where:  Piney Run Park, 30 Martz Rd, Sykesville
  • When: Friday, Mar. 15, 7 p.m.
  • Description:  Piney Run Nature Center will host a night of Celtic music with the Whirligig band featuring the Koons family.
  • Cost: $25

New Life for Girls Benefit Vendor/Craft Show

  • Where:  3001 Mayberry Rd, Westminster
  • When: Saturday, Mar. 16, 8 a.m.
  • Description:  Easter gifts and decorations, greeting cards, filled gift baskets and more.
  • Cost: Free

Easter Egg Hunt benefiting Carroll Hospice

  • Where: Winters Mill High School, 560 Gorsuch Rd, Westminster
  • When:  Saturday, Mar. 16, 10 a.m.
  • Description:  To celebrate the Easter season, children are invited to attend a traditional Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. Children and parents will be shuttled to the event from Winters Mill High School to Killarney Drive, near Gorsuch Road in Westminster. In addition to an Easter egg hunt, the event will feature a variety of fun activities for children including face painting, crafts, magic tricks, pictures with the Easter Bunny and more. Tickets are $10 per child and adults are free. The rain date is Sunday, April 7. All proceeds benefit Carroll Hospice.

WTTR St. Patrick's Day Dinner Sock Hop

  • Where: Westminster Women of the Moose, 309 Buena Vista Dr, Westminster
  • When:  Saturday, Mar. 16, 7 p.m.
  • Description:  Join WTTR's Jack Edwards, Bob Mathers and the lovely Annie B. for four hours of the Greatest Dance Hits of All Time.
  • Cost:  $25

2nd Annual Carroll County Democratic Central Committee Breakfast

  • Where:  Best Western, 451 Wmc Dr, Westminster
  • When:  Saturday, Mar. 16, 9 a.m.
  • Description:  The special guest for the morning will be Representative Heather Mizeur.
  • Cost:  $40

Auditions: Seussical

  • Where:  Liberty High School, 5855 Bartholow Rd, Sykesville
  • When:  Sunday, Mar. 17, 1 p.m.
  • Description:  Auditions for the 6th Spotlighter Production of “Seussical the Musical”
  • Cost: Free

I don't live in your district and I am not a member of your party. I have watched you during yourRead More meetings with the commissioners and you handle things very well. You have a balance of private and public sector experience which is a necessary background to have to guide the county. It will be nice to have a competent person with your qualifications to run against someone who is totally unqualified but never had any opposition in the last election. Now she will have to attend the voter forums and explin her views and positions. Let the chips fall where they may. The emperor will have no clothes.

Wow, this is great news. Hopefully, 1 down and 4 to go!! Make sure Frazier shows up at theRead More political forums this time. She chose to miss every one last time, so she did not have to answer questions on her positions and her horrible record the first time around in 1998-2002. She will try to do that again to get re-elected.

If Frazier runs for reelection in 2014, I hope someone will have the nerve to ask her pointblank, onRead More camera, about her relationship to Roscoe Bartlett. Folks who've been around Carroll County for a while know the answer: there is no relation. She just tacked that on when she decided to run the first time. It may be her maiden name - or not - but she has never bothered to answer the question. She just let folks assume there is a connection, and lots of folks fell for it.
