Strawberry Festivals, Cancer Survivors Celebration and More in Carroll County this Weekend

Gamber & Community Fire Company Carnival

  • Where:  Gamber Volunteer Fire Department, 3838 Niner Road, Gamber
  • When:  Saturday, May 25 – June 1, 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.  
  • Description:  Rides, food, games and entertainment. Free fireworks Monday night, Memorial Day, May 27th.

Strawberry Festival

  • Where:  Sykesville Freedom District Volunteer Fire Grounds, Rt. 32 and Freedom Avenue, Sykesville
  • When:  Saturday, June 1, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Description:  Messiah Lutheran Church invites one and all to the 23rd Annual Strawberry Festival. 
  • Cost: Free

Union Bridge Fire Company Carnival

  • Where:  Union Bridge Fire Company, 8 W. Locust Street, Union Bridge
  • When:  Saturday, June 1, 6 – 11:30 p.m.
  • Description:  In addition to fresh picked strawberries and homemade strawberry shortcake there will be many games and activities for children, face painting, hay wagon rides, pony rides, moon bounce, sticky tag and a giant slide. Entertainment will be provided throughout the day.  Among the entertainment are Freedom Firestars Majorettes, Carroll County Dance Center, Savage Dance Company, Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy, Carroll Gymnastics, Stepping Stars, and Merritt Dance. There will be many craft and flea market vendors displaying their merchandise.  The flea market vendors will be offering a wide assortment of useful and desirable items. A variety of foods will be available all day, starting with breakfast sandwiches at 9:00 am.

Strawberry Festival and Community Yard Sale 

  • Where: St. Mary's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3978 Littlestown Pike, Westminster
  • When:  Saturday, June 1, 9 a.m.
  • Description:  Fresh Strawberries available by the quart and fresh Strawberries over Ice Cream, Delicious Food Served All Day, Baked Items, Handmade Crafts, Plants, White Elephant Table, Christmas Items, Handmade Jewelry, and much, much more.  Pleasant Valley Fire Engine Display.  Musical entertainment by Carroll Lutheran Village’s “Never Too Late Band.” Yard Sale & Flea Market Space Available.  Proceeds to Benefit Carroll County Rape Crisis, Missionary Support, Handicap Access for Parish House, 10% tithe to DE-MD Synod of the ELCA.  Rain or shine.

Youth Fishing Derby

  • Where:  Piney Run Park, 30 Martz Rd., Sykesville
  • When:  Saturday, June 1, 7 – 11 a.m.
  • Description:  A pan fish tournament for children 15 and under. Lots of prizes will be awarded for various categories.
  • Cost: $5

Spring Muster and Antique Fire Equipment Show

  • Where:  Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St., Westminster
  • When:  Saturday, June 1, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Description:  Chesapeake Antique Fire Apparatus Association will host the annual Maryland Antique Fire Apparatus Muster at the Farm Museum Pond near the Ag Center Rd. Display of antique fire equipment and flea market of fire service items.
  • Cost:  Free

Table Tennis Tournament

  • Where:  6400 Ridge Rd, Eldersburg
  • When:  Saturday, June 1, 10 a.m.
  • Description:  The Maryland Table Tennis Association (nonprofit) will hold The Maryland Circuit Table Tennis Tournament at our club in The Carrolltown Center, at the corner of Ridge Rd and Route 26 in Eldersburg, MD. The Tournament starts at 10am Saturday. There are events for everyone from novice to advanced, juniors and seniors. Spectators are admitted free.   • Cost: Spectators are free.

Fleamarket at Carrolltown Center

  • Where:  Carrolltown Center, 6400 Ridge Rd, Eldersburg
  • When:  Saturday, June 1, 8 a.m.
  • Description:   Freedom Fitness Trash to Treasures Fleamarket, held at the corner of Liberty and Ridge Roads in Eldersburg.
  • Cost:  Free

Carroll Hospital Center to host annual National Cancer Survivors Day celebration

  • Where:  Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S Center St, Westminster
  • When:  Sunday, June 2, 12 p.m.
  • Description:  In honor of the courage, determination and strength of cancer survivors and their families, Carroll Hospital Center is hosting its second annual National Cancer Survivors Day celebration on Sunday, June 2 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Carroll County Farm Museum. The free event is a day for cancer survivors and their families to enjoy beach-themed fun to celebrate victories against the disease. Attendees will enjoy great food, door prizes and giveaways, musical entertainment and watch a volleyball game featuring Carroll Hospital Center staff. Children can also participate in a range of kid-friendly activities including face painting and more.

10 x 10 Art Exhibit

  • Where:  Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main Street, Westminster
  • When:  April 18 – June 7
  • Description:  Unique art exhibit commemorates the Arts Center's 10th anniversary. Features more than 100 works of art -- all exactly 10 inches by 10 inches, and all for sale at $100 each. 
  • Cost:  Free
