Carroll is one of several counties in Maryland under a winter storm warning from 8 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday.

A winter storm warning means that a storm system will impact the area with significant amounts of snow, sleet and freezing rain, making travel difficult Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

Downed tree branches and limbs along with power outages are likely, according to the NWS.

“BGE continues to monitor the approaching winter storm and is preparing crews for restoration work, should conditions warrant,” said Carol Dodson, vice president and chief customer officer for BGE. “The forecasted snow and ice has the potential to coat trees and tree limbs, which may then fall onto power lines and other electric delivery equipment, which could cause power outages. Some outages may be extended if hazardous road conditions delay our crews’ ability to travel and begin restoration work."

Snow and sleet will begin Sunday morning then will change to freezing rain Sunday afternoon. Freezing rain will continue Sunday night and eventually change to rain late Monday morning, according to the NWS. The greatest accumulation of ice will take place Sunday night.

Accumulations of one to three inches of snow and sleet are expected, followed by a quarter inch of ice.

If it does snow (even tonight into tomorrow, but I'm praying NOT!), that means that we will be clobbered in February AND March. The earlier it snows, the worse it is in February AND March. That's just my two cents!
