Arts Center Announces Summer Art Camps

Want your kids to get crafty this summer? Check out art camp.

With four-and-a-half months of school to go for public school students, it's hard to contemplate what kids will be doing in July. But as many parents know, now is the time to figure it out as camps fill up quickly and there is nothing worse than a bored kid mid-summer.

The offers several camp options for kids aged 5 to 12. Arts Council Members may register starting March 1 and registration opens to the general public on April 1.  On-line registration is available at www.CarrollCountyArtsCouncil.org

 
Art Adventures

Ages 8-12
June 25-29:  10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Camp Director: Susan Williamson
$145 members/$160 Non-members

Adventures in art await you with this full day of arts and crafts and cultural activities.  Campers will spend the week drawing, painting and crafting.  Guest artists will lead projects that encourage campers to “think outside the box.” We will visit local art galleries and sculpture gardens.  The jam-packed week will end with a gallery reception and display of campers’ creations.

Creative Kids Camp

Ages 5-8
Camp Director:  Sandy Oxx
July 9-13, or July 16-20: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
$100 Members/$115 Non-Members

Our youngest campers will get a taste of all aspects of the visual and performing arts through sing-a-longs, arts & crafts, drama games, special guests, movies and gallery activities.  Popsicles, face-painting and walks to the park round out a week of fun that culminates in a performance for parents as well as a special screening of our camp movie.  This is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the arts!

 

Fun Company Theatre Camp

Ages 8-12
July 23-August 3: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Camp Director:  Julie Herber of Maryland Ensemble Theatre
$260 Members/$280 Non-Members

This camp is the ultimate theatre experience.  Campers will enjoy activities pertaining to all aspects of theatre, from making props and designing costumes to improv games and drama exercises.  Campers will spend the second week preparing a performance that will take place Friday night at 6pm on the Art Center’s stage.

 

Circus Stars Camp

August 13-24

While not officially sponsored by the Carroll County Arts Council, this camp is held at the Carroll Arts Center. It is run by Michael Rosman, a Ringling-trained circus performer with a long career as both an entertainer as well as a teacher and coach.  For more information go to www.CircusCampStars.com or call Michael at 410-833-6763.
