Carroll Arts Center Gets Spruced Up for its 10th Anniversary

The Carroll County Arts Center received $50,000 worth of repairs and updates on its 10-year anniversary.

This April marks the 10-year anniversary of the Carroll County Arts Center.

The Carroll County Arts Council, formed in 1969 originally renovated this 76-year-old theatre in 2003.  The center has since acted as an art gallery for local artists, a classroom for aspiring artists, a theatre showcasing movies, shows, performances and productions of all kinds and more.

In honor of the anniversary, the Carroll County Arts Council board of directors allocated $50,000 to be used to spruce up its Westminster Main Street location.

The center closed down for a week in early January in order to undergo the updates.  Repairs were made to some water damaged areas and an overhang was added at the loading dock.

The theatre portion of the center received new floors including the stage as well as new gallery lighting and an updated sound system.

Repairs have been made to the neon in the marquee, the center’s windows and the entire establishment received a new coat of paint.

Also in celebration of their 10-year Anniversary the Arts Center hosted a “$10 for our 10th” asking members and non-members alike to contribute gifts of $10.  This drive will take place for the rest of the year with the goal raising $10,000 to be used to ‘keep the Arts Center shining brightly.’

All donors who contribute $10 or more will be listed on a huge birthday card that will be available to see in the Arts Center lobby.  Anyone interested in making a donation can do so here.

Carroll County Arts Council Executive Director Sandy Oxx is just one of the many members who is excited about the Center’s tenth year.

“I can’t believe it has been a decade already.” Oxx said.  “We are thrilled that the community has embraced this organization with such generous support and we are proud of the role we play in enhancing the quality of life in Carroll County.”
