Local theatre companies will present a variety of acts and numbers at this first annual showcase event.

Several local theatre groups will perform in the first annual Carroll County Theatre Showcase to shine a much-deserved spotlight on the talents in our community and to inspire audiences to support these outstanding performing groups.

The Carroll Arts Center will host the first annual Carroll County Theatre Showcase on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 pm.  Local theatres companies will be presenting a wide variety of short scenes, monologues and musical numbers including those from past favorites as well as “sneak peeks” at upcoming shows.

The audience will enjoy short scenes, monologues and musical numbers performed by each of our County’s talented theatre groups including The Carroll Players, Carroll County School for the Performing Arts, McDaniel Theatre, September Song, Shakespeare Factory and TACTICC.  In addition, the Carroll County Arts Council’s Children’s Theatre Troupe will perform a few numbers from their upcoming production of “Bugsy Malone JR.”

Paul Zimmermann, a familiar face to may local theatre-goers, will serve as emcee.

“We are blessed with a wealth of talent in this community, and I’m not sure residents are aware of the quality and variety of live theatre available to them, so hopefully this showcase will whet their appetites and inspire their attendance and support for these troupes,” said Executive Director Sandy Oxx in a statement. “We hope to start an annual tradition with this offering and hope that it can become the time when local theatre companies introduce their upcoming season to the public.”
