Carroll Arts Council Announces Festival of Wreaths Winners

This year's annual event raised more than $20,000 for Arts Council programs.

The Carroll Arts Center was abuzz with activity during its recent Festival of Wreaths.  An estimated 2,500 people visited the event which featured 203 uniquely themed wreaths. 

The wreaths were created by individuals, businesses and clubs and were offered to the public in a week-long silent auction which raised $20,200 for the Arts Council. 

The public voted on their favorites and the winners are as follows: 

Grand Prize: “Puff the Magic Dragonfly” by Nick Vincent of Nathan’s Forge

President’s Choice Award: “Count your Blessings” by the McHugh Family

Director’s Choice Award: “Sprigs of Holly” by Jayma Martin Kessing

Staff Favorite Award: “Hands of Hope” By Service Coordination and Ain’t That a Frame

Sponsors Choice Award (Carroll County Times): “Whirled Peace” by Carroll Springs School

Sponsor’s Choice Award (PNC Bank): “Pottery Ring Jug” by Ken Hankins of Shiloh Pottery

Nature Nut Award: “Simply Succulent” by Brianna Griffin

Reason for the Season Award: “He’s Got the Whole World in his Hands” by Lynn Lindsay for Westminster Church of the Brethren

Year-Round Favorite: “Monarch Migration” By Terry Whye of Whye Clay Works

Best Use of Recycled Materials: “Curiously Strong Eye Candy” By Cynthia Fisher

Gentlemen’s Choice Award: “Joy for John Deere” By Rich Eckard

Most Unique: “Blowin’ in the Wind” by Roger Miller

Spirit of Generosity Award: “Christmas Carroll” by Carroll County Chamber of Commerce

Spirit of Generosity Award: “Gifts Galore” by the Gaddis Family

Ladies Love it Award: “White Christmas” by Emily Lolli

Best Business Representation: “Jingle Bell Rock” by Simply Stone

Charity Challenge Audience Favorite Award: “Razz-ma-tazz” by Paula Mettala for The Boys & Girls Club

Charity Challenge Raised the most Money: “Santa Paws” by Jennifer Jaco for Reach out and Rescue

Favorite Traditional: “Red, White & Ravishing” by The Women’s Club of Westminster

Fruitcake Award: “Not a Creature was Stirring” By Carroll County Office of Recycling

Tiny Tim Award: “Empowering Girls” by Girl Scout Troop #2226

Sports Fan Award: “Fantasy Football” by Nancy Schmitt

Sew Nice Award: “The Little Brown Bird” by Marilyn Russell

Patriotic Award: “Thanks to those who Serve” by Shiloh Stepping Stones

Artistic Excellence Award: “Eggcellent Wreath” by Laura Finch

I don't live in your district and I am not a member of your party. I have watched you during yourRead More meetings with the commissioners and you handle things very well. You have a balance of private and public sector experience which is a necessary background to have to guide the county. It will be nice to have a competent person with your qualifications to run against someone who is totally unqualified but never had any opposition in the last election. Now she will have to attend the voter forums and explin her views and positions. Let the chips fall where they may. The emperor will have no clothes.

Wow, this is great news. Hopefully, 1 down and 4 to go!! Make sure Frazier shows up at theRead More political forums this time. She chose to miss every one last time, so she did not have to answer questions on her positions and her horrible record the first time around in 1998-2002. She will try to do that again to get re-elected.

Folks who've been around Carroll County for a while know the answer: there is no relation. She just tacked that on when she decided to run the first time. It may be her maiden name - or not - but she has never bothered to answer the question. She just let folks assume there is a connection, and lots of folks fell for it.
