Old Line Statesmen Barbershop Chorus Sping Show

Annual barbershop show to hit the airwaves Sunday, June 12

All the things that make up a radio studio, including sound effects and commercials, will be presented by the members of the Old Line Statesmen Barbershop Chorus, the Carroll County, MD Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA, Inc.), during the chapter’s 29th annual show to take place Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Scott Center for Performing Arts, Carroll Community College. The show starts at 3 p.m.

The chorus and its chapter quartets will take on the various jobs that make up a radio station and present a condensed day of operations in “Live on WOLS: A Day in the Life of a Radio Station” with all the mayhem that may ensue.

The show will feature guest quartet Mirage, an award-winning quartet from Sweet Adelines International, the female equivalent to the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS). In addition, longtime on-air Baltimore radio personality Steve Rouse again will appear as the chorus’ guest emcee. With Rouse behind the microphone and chorus members working the boards, anything can happen.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance at the Carroll County Arts Council, Coffey Music and Stu’s Music stores in addition to at the door on the day of the concert. Children, age 6 and younger will be admitted free. Limited handicapped seating is available and can be reserved by calling the chorus. For more information, call 410-795-5050 or see their website, www.oldlinestatesmen.org.
