We use boxes to hold stuff. Sometimes stuff that needs a special place, and many times boxes serve as places to stuff the stuff for which we cannot find a place. The artists in this exhibit create functional boxes from elegant woods and polymer clays or use boxes to isolate objects of memory, objects of affection or a collection of found objects and make them precious. These boxes create a special environment and a composition of objects placed in a different context of their original use or meaning. Often the exterior of the box tells the story and allows the viewer to search for a deeper meaning. Some of the boxes will be available for cash and carry sale.
