Nationally Known Musicians Perform Benefit Concert for Human Service Programs

Well known music artists Cheryl Wheeler and Christopher James will perform together in concert on June 22 to benefit Human Service Programs of Carroll County. 

Nationally renowned folk singer and songwriter Cheryl Wheeler's musical range is broad, from gut-busting humor and vitriolic satire, to heart-breaking emotion. Her low key, self-deprecating manner, quirky humor, natural story telling ability and beautiful voice have made her one of the shining lights of today’s folk scene, according to a news release. 

Passion, hope energy are at the heart of Christopher James’ music which is steeped in the blues tradition, according to a news release. The Maryland State Arts Council presented Christopher James with the highly competitive Individual Artist Award for his latest release, When the Moon Gets High Tonight: The Blues Mandolin Experience, recorded with Grammy nominated producer Professor Louie. He has won the Baltimore Blues Society’s Blues Challenge contest and received two Wammie nominations for Best Blues Recording and Best Blues Vocalist.

The concert is scheduled for June 22 at 7 p.m. at the Carroll County Arts Council. 

General Admission tickets are $25. VIP tickets are available for $50 and include premiere reserved seating closest to the stage, complimentary wine and cheese ‘meet and greet’ reception following the concert and listing as a donor in HSP’s newsletters.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.carrollcountyartscouncil.org or in person at Carroll Arts Center, 91 West Main Street, Westminster. All proceeds from Cheryl’s performance will directly benefit Human Services Programs of Carroll County, Inc. 

HSP is the Community Action Agency for Carroll County. Its mission is to improve the quality of life and self-sufficiency of at-risk and low-income Carroll County residents by providing assistance with basic needs, advocacy, linkages to resources and opportunities to enhance life skills.
