It's Not Too Late: Shepherd's Staff Accepting School Supply Donations

Accidentally buy school supplies on the fourth grader list even though your kid is going into third grade? Find a great deal you couldn't pass up and now have a dozen packs of crayons?

If you find you have extra school supplies or have an extra few bucks to get some extra, consider donating the supplies to The Shepherd's Staff.  The Westminster nonprofit helps low income families ensure their children have the necessary supplies to start the school year off on the right foot.

The Shepherd's Staff is currently distributing supplies to families that signed up earlier in the summer and they continue to accept supplies for those in need. According to Executive Director Brenda Meadows, they have an immediate need for the following items:

  • backpacks
  • sets of tabbed dividers
  • 1" 3-ring binders and 1.5" 3-ring binders
  • wide ruled 3-ring binder paper
  • pocket folders with brads
  • yellow highlighters
  • index cards
These and other school supply donations, including new and gently used clothes for school-aged children, can be dropped off at Shepherd's Staff at 30 Carroll St. in Westminster.

For families in need that did not register earlier this summer, remaining supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis on Aug. 22 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Keep you eyes open for The Shepherd's Staff's annual coat drive taking place in the coming weeks.
