Business Profile: Mercer Carpet One, Half a Century on Main Street
Mercer Carpet One has put down a lot of floors in Carroll County.
Mercer Carpet One opened its doors in 1959 in historic downtown Westminster. The business remains a staple on Main Street and current owner Jim Farrell is proud to be the third generation to run the store.
According to the website, John and Barbara Mercer retired in 2000 and their daughter and son-in-law, Jim Farrell took the reins on the family business.
Farrell said that because Mercer Carpet One has been around for so long, it has really integrated with the downtown community over the years. The store has gotten involved with sponsoring organizations like Carroll Community College, YMCA, and local and national Breast Cancer events.
