Main Street Kicks off Holiday Season on Small Business Saturday

Westminster will kick off the holidays, and promote shopping at small businesses, on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Black Friday no longer stands alone when it comes to post-Thanksgiving Day shopping blitzes. Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday have become popular shopping days and Westminster is gearing up for a huge downtown holiday celebration on Small Business Saturday, or Nov. 24.

Last year, American Express estimated that 103 million Americans shopped at a small business on Small Business Saturday.

Main Street businesses in Westminster will be bustling on Nov. 24 after stores open at 10 a.m. Plan your shopping day around these festive holiday events also taking place on Main Street Nov. 24:

  • "Miracle on Main Street" -- The Carroll Arts Center will show Miracle on 34th Street at 3 p.m.
  • The Holiday Electric Parade will light up Main Street at 5 p.m.
  • The Annual Tree Lighting & Mayor's Cup Award will be presented at Locust Lane at 6 p.m.
  • Santa's Treat for children will be held at the Westminster Library from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
