Pick an Apple for International Eat an Apple Day

Saturday, Sept. 17 is National Eat an Apple Day, and if you live in Westminster you know there is no better place to find an apple than Baugher's Orchard.

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away" Ben Franklin said. This statement may prove to be even truer than he realized.

According to Arthritis Today Magazine, apples are packed with vitamins A and C, helping to promote healthy skin.

The Arthritis.org website reports that a medium apple contains about 5 grams of dietary fiber, helping with digestion and weight loss.  Also, it says recent studies suggest that apples have a high level of phytonutrients that help guard against cell damage that contributes to age-related memory loss.
