Oil Heat Foundation and Modern Comfort Help Westminster Resident

– Last week, Oil Heat Cares (OHC), a foundation based in East Petersburg, PA and Westminster-based Modern Comfort Systems (MCS) helped a Westminster homeowner by replacing the oil fired hot air furnace at no cost to her.

When performing routine preventive maintenance, Scotty Zeiler, the MCS Service Technician saw that the heat exchanger on the furnace was cracked, which could cause an extremely dangerous condition in the home.  Replacement of the unit was necessary.  But the cost was prohibitive for her, so Hank Larsen, Business Manager at MCS contacted Oil Heat Cares to see if they could help.  Larsen explains, “When we learned of her recent difficulties, we immediately contacted OHC, who agreed to donate the cost of the equipment if MCS would donate the labor.”  And just as quickly as that decision was made, MCS technicians returned to install the new furnace.  “The homeowner could not have been more gracious,” Larsen continues.  “It feels good to help someone so deserving, and we appreciate the generosity of Oil Heat Cares in these situations!”

Oil Heat Cares, which was founded by the National Association of Oil & Energy Service Professionals (OESP), raises funds to purchase heating equipment, and members such as MCS identify those individuals most in need of a helping hand. When a project is approved, all the work and equipment becomes a gift to the recipient.  “Oil Heat Cares is the oilheat industry’s way of giving back to their local communities by helping their neighbors in need,” said Dave Bessette, Chairman of the Board of Oil Heat Cares. “This project was a perfect fit for us, and I am glad that Oil Heat Cares was able to help.”
