If you missed last week's meeting.. you missed a great presentation!

Mr. Daniel Reardon of the Westminster Aero Modelers was the guest speaker for the May 27, 2014, Carroll Composite Meeting. His presentation was informative and well received by both senior and cadet members. Mr. Reardon discussed the sport of flying model airplanes and its similarities to aviation in general. He expertly laced his presentation with emphases on safety and following rules, regardless of the task or sport. He explained the costs and time investment related to this sport as well as expressed his enthusiasm with the end result. Cadets had the opportunity to examine the model airplanes that were brought by Mr. Reardon to the meeting.
Squadron Commander Lt Col Jarosinski, expressed the squadron’s appreciation to Mr. Readron. He explained that Aerospace Education is one of the primary missions of the Civil Air Patrol and that hearing about the technical aspect of flying model airplanes provided an alternative example of the fundamentals of flight. Jarosinski, assured the squadron and Mr. Reardon of a continued partnership with the Westminster Aero Modelers and its members.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 60,000 members nationwide, operating a fleet of 550 aircraft. CAP, in its Air Force auxiliary role, performs about 85 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 71 lives annually. Its unpaid professionals also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to more than 25,000 young people currently participating in the CAP cadet programs. CAP received the World Peace Prize in 2011 and has been performing missions for America for 72 years. CAP also participates in Wreaths Across America, an initiative to remember,
honor and teach about the sacrifices of U.S. military veterans. Visit www.gocivilairpatrol.com or www.capvolunteernow.com for more information.
